Jeff Covey's story is a fairy-tale of sorts. Without any formal design training, he has managed to create a piece of furniture already heralded as a classic of contemporary design. Covey first introduced the Covey Model 6 Stool at a furniture show in New York, where prestigious furniture firm Herman Miller instantly recognised its superior quality of design and promptly took over production. Today the stool is proudly displayed in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The genius of the Model 6 Stool lies in its simplicity, both in terms of form and function. Resting on three heat-treated rolled-steel legs, the seat can easily be risen from a low 23 to a high 28 inches. And with its playful yet delicate appearance, the chair is sure to become a much-loved presence wherever it is placed. |
