Cassina was founded in Meda, Milano by the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina in 1927. The company evolved alongside Italian Design and was in fact, one of the architects of the phenomenon, and today their name is spontaneously associated with it. From its humble beginnings the company has evolved into a premier manufacturer of contemporary furniture and its products have become a point of reference for the international design scene.
The company was one of the first of its kind to collaborate extensively with external designers, and it is these collaborations which have come to shape the very identity of Cassina. Choosing a designer with whom to trust the creation of new products is a responsibility not taken lightly and Cassina does everything to ensure that the utmost respect is given to the brand's tradition and unique personality. Cassina has enjoyed valued relationships with some of the greatest talents of international design and in the last decade alone, they can boast amongst their contributors such names as Philippe Starck, Piero Lissoni, Jorge Pensi, Jehs+Laub, Patrick Jouin and Jean Marie Massaud.
The result is an eclectic, versatile and innovative range clearly open to ideas from various cultures and historic backgrounds, yet united in a shared language.
